About Chelsea Frank, MFT

Chelsea Frank is a licensed marriage and family therapist. She obtained a bachelor's degree in behavioral science with an emphasis in psychology from Concordia University Irvine in 2013. She went on to earn a master's degree in clinical psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy from Azusa Pacific University in 2015. During graduate school she worked as a behavioral interventionist providing Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy to children with autism and related disorders of ages between 1.5 to 13 years old. Chelsea completed her internship during graduate school at Community Research Foundation (CRF) New Vistas Crisis Center where she gained experience in crisis intervention and working with individuals experiencing acute psychiatric distress.

Once she completed her master's degree program, Chelsea went on to work at CRF Step Forward/CalWORKs for over 4 years providing individual and group counseling services to assist clients in reducing mental health barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment. During her time at CRF Step Forward, Chelsea had multiple roles in the program including being an individual/group therapist, conducting screenings for new clients who requested services, and assisting the director in managing administrative aspects of the program. Chelsea has worked with clients who have experienced depression, anxiety, trauma, stress management, struggles with co-parenting, substance use, and acute psychiatric distress. Chelsea is authentic and genuine in her work with individuals, couples, and families as she believes it helps build a strong therapeutic relationship.

She utilizes Solution-Focused Therapy to assist individuals, couples, and families she works with to identify their strengths and resources to help in overcoming their current struggles. When indicated, she utilizes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to teach coping skills of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness to reduce feelings of being overwhelmed and feeling controlled by emotions.

In her free time, Chelsea enjoys reading, practicing Pilates, and spending time with friends and family.
