About Emilia Ramirez, PsyD

Dr. Emilia Ramirez is both from Texas and California, loves what she does, and has worked in the field of social services for approximately 25 years.

Dr. Ramirez completed her doctorate in 2011 in Clinical Psychology in Dallas, Texas, her Masters in Clinical Psychology in 2009 in Dallas Texas and graduated as a fourth-generation Longhorn from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After completing graduate school, she moved back to Northern California and at the end of 2019, Emilia relocated to San Diego and so far, is delighted by the weather, people, and gorgeous coastal views.

As far as clinical practice, Emilia uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy in tandem with Narrative therapy to meet people where they are. She believes in the power of these treatment interventions to help people with landmark change but also believes in the power of the story, and how what the person shares is just as meaningful as the clinical interpretation. She teaches people how to re-write their narratives into more gentle, self-accepting ones so that people can feel clear and good about who they are and how they show up in the world.

For fun she enjoys playing guitar, tennis, painting, and watching documentaries. She loves her cat, all animals really, and wants to make the world a safer, more beautiful place for all the clients she serves. She considers it a privilege to get to do what she does and will give her all to helping each person she works with to lead a more healthy, enjoyable, and manageable life.
