I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University. In 2008, I obtained Geriatric Training Certificate and specialized in treating geriatric population with Depression, Anxiety, and other psychiatric disorders. My previous experience including establishing a geriatric mental health program where I had the opportunity to provide supervision to clinicians and interns, lead interdisciplinary treatment meetings, monitored and ensured treatment models/guidelines were followed, provided in-service training to community partners/other providers, etc. During this time, we were able to successfully help many homebound individuals to become more self-sufficient by using evidence-based treatment model.
My other experiences included working as a clinical psychologist where I provided in-home and in-clinic psychotherapy to seniors who were suffering from severe mental illness, working at a private practice with clients from different cultural backgrounds with a variety of issues, such as anger issues, child abuse issues, psychotic disorders, depressive disorders, adjustment disorders, etc. I had also provided therapy to refugees in the jail settings. Furthermore, I had worked with severe psychiatric patients by providing individual therapy, making tailored behavioral modification plans, and facilitating group therapy at an in-patient psychiatric hospital. In addition, I had worked with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders by providing behavior interventions and assessments.
As a multilingual (English, Mandarin, & Taiwanese) psychologist who has worked with clients from a variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, I have become more culturally sensitive in providing a comprehensive range of mental health services for a diverse population.
I have a special interest in the Eclectic Approach and Multicultural Therapy. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, strength-based approach and Family System Therapy to assist individuals to achieve their goals. I believe Spirituality/Christianity can play an important role in mental health healing. It is very crucial to tailor the treatment plan and assist individuals at where they are and with what they need to improve their mental health and overall well-being.
