About Maxine Kibble, MFT

Maxine Kibble is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who earned her Bachelor of Science Degree is Education and Dance Therapy from New York University in 1979. She has two Masters: one in marriage family counseling from University of Phoenix in 2005 and a second master’s in clinical psychology from Alliant International University, California School of Professional Psychology in 2008. Currently, Maxine is enrolled in the PsyD doctoral program at California Southern University scheduled to graduate 12/2020.

Maxine has fourteen years as an educator, counselor and researcher in the field of psychology. Maxine has won awards from the following institutions: PSI CHI International Honor Society in Psychology 2011, Alliant International University’s Chapter National Society of Leadership and Success 2010, Alliant International University Graduate Scholarship Award from 2005 to 2010, and Sigma Alpha Pi/University of Phoenix’s, Alpha Delta Omega National Honor Society for Human Service Education in 2004. Currently, Maxine is writing an approved doctoral quantitative study on: A High Correlation Regarding Perceived Pay Inequality, Chronic Physical Conditions and Work Performance Anxiety Among American Women in the Field of Counseling and Psychology.

Maxine is a member of The American Psychotherapy Association, a student affiliate of American Psychology Association, a member of the Division of Humanistic Psychology, a member of The Association of Black Psychologists, and The California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

Maxine’s expertise includes substance abuse, the prison populations, AB109s (felons)/290s (sex offenders), anger management, domestic violence, parenting supervision and advocating in the school system for her IEP and 504 clients. Maxine has worked closely with psychiatrists regarding clients who require medication management as well as assessments, diagnosing and creating collaborative treatment plans for individuals, couples and families in counseling. Her clientele ranges from 3 to 70 years of age and her therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focused therapies. Maxine strongly believes in culturally sensitive engagement when working with her clients, to understand how they see their presenting problem within the context of their culture.

Maxine is married and has a daughter, who lives in Utah and is a chef. She enjoys cooking, listening to music (classical and jazz) and watching old black and white films with her husband.
