Meagan Mckenna is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and is currently working on completing her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Alliant International University, with an emphasis in Forensic Psychology. Meagan has several years of experience working with severely mentally ill adults, in residential facilities and in outpatient settings, specializing in working with children, teens and their families. Meagan is soon to be a nationally certified Trauma Focused CBT provider and has years of experience working with youth who have been impacted by trauma, as well as expertise in working with high risk populations and crisis intervention. For the past four years Meagan has worked extensively with youth with sexual behavior problems and boundary issues. In addition to these areas of focus, Meagan specializes in working with children and teens with behavior problems, oppositional defiant disorder, ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, parent-child conflict, blended family issues, adjustment disorders, stress management, positive parenting techniques, grief, and trauma. Meagan utilizes a variety of treatment approaches to best meet her client’s needs, including but not limited to CBT, solution focused therapy, structural family therapy, behavior modification and motivational interviewing. Meagan also implements art therapy and play therapy techniques in her treatment. Meagan strongly identifies with the belief that the therapeutic relationship is the single most important catalyst for change and therefore, her genuine, authentic personality, her use of humor and her passion for helping others assists in promoting an atmosphere of safety and comfortability in which her Clients can make substantial changes and achieve their goals.
