Robin Andersen, LMFT, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego, and her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. Robin has worked with clients of all ages experiencing a wide array of issues. Prior to joining PsyCare, Robin worked with adolescents on probation through Vista Hill's Juvenile Drug Court program, treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Robin has also worked with adults experiencing moderate to severe mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders through Mental Health System's BPSR Kinesis North Clinic, grieving family members and friends through The Elizabeth Hospice's Center for Compassionate Care, and elementary school aged children through the Family Service Agency of Burbank.
Robin believes in adopting a collaborative approach with each client, emphasizing strengths and focusing on solutions vs. dwelling on perceived weaknesses and problems. Her theoretical orientation is eclectic and tailored to the needs of each client. Robin utilizes interventions that promote greater self-awareness and discovery of new skills that can be practiced between therapy sessions. Robin recognizes that everyone experiences setbacks in life and accepts each client's story without judgment. Robin strives to create a therapeutic environment that is characterized by warmth, respect, growth, and humor.
Robin emphasizes self-care with clients and practices it in her own life as well. Outside of work, Robin enjoys reading, traveling, and spending quality time with her husband and dog. She looks forward to meeting with you and developing a plan to address the issues you may be facing today!
