About Suzanne Hampton, LMFT

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California (LMFT) and have had the pleasure of working as a therapist since 2004. The therapeutic approach I take with my clients draws from the person centered approach. This means that I consistently make efforts to meet each client "where they are at". In this approach, several psychological modalities are used--Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Existential Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy, to name a few. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) from UCSD. EMDR has been clinically shown to greatly assist in trauma recovery. MBSR teaches how to better relate to one's own experience with a greater sense of acceptance and openness, rather than resisting or avoiding one's own experience. This promotes the ability to make wiser life decisions, which is a key to happiness. Congratulations on taking this commendable step of achieving your health goals. I am looking forward to working with you!
